Description

This is a program for those who would like to work with children in an early childhood or elementary academic setting as the key assistant to the classroom teacher. It provides preparation for becoming certified as a Title I Paraprofessional, the certification that is required in the highest needs schools (low socioeconomic status, low achieving). This credit-bearing coursework can be applied to the BAS in Foundations of Teaching at 探花appand can be applied to licensing programs in Early Childhood Education and/or Elementary Education at other institutions.

Students enrolled in this certificate program can select to complete the Title I Paraprofessional and ND Substitute License sequence, and/or complete either or both of the bachelor's degrees at 探花appin Foundations of Teaching (BAS) and an Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education teaching licensure program at a partner institution (B.S.Ed.).

Preparation

This program will lead to:

  1. The Title I Paraprofessional Certificate of Completion by the ND Department of Public Instruction (federally recognized).
  2. A North Dakota Substitute Teacher License that is conferred by the ND Education Standards & Practice Board.听

Requirements

Students who complete the curriculum requirements receive a Program Certificate in Education Foundations - Early Childhood & Elementary.

Credits from the Education Foundations - Early Childhood & Elementary Certificate may stack the following Bachelor of Applied Science degrees:

  • Foundations of Teaching

Career Opportunities
